BIOGRAPHY
Born in Hamburg in 1970, Burkhard Fritz studied medicine and at the same time voice, under Ute Buge. After his first appearances in among other places, Gelsenkirchen, he joined the ensemble at the Unter den Linden State Opera in Berlin in the 2004/2005 season. There, under the direction of Daniel Barenboim, he sang "Parsifal", "Lohengrin" and "Stolzing" (The Mastersingers of Nuremberg.) In the Italian Fach, he can be heard as "Cavaradossi" (Tosca) and "Don José" (Carmen.) Burkhard Fritz makes guest appearances at La Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, at the Salzburg Festival as well as the Munich Opera Festival. At the Bavarian State Opera, in the 2011/2012 season he will appear as "Florestan" (Fidelio) and "Bacchus" (Ariadne auf Naxos.) He will also sing these roles at the Vienna State Opera. |
