Peter Seiffert studied at the Musikhochschule of his home town Düsseldorf. He had his first engagement at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and was awarded a prize in the singing competition of the Deutscher Musikrat. Opera and concert guest performances in Europe and television broadcasts followed. His engagement at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Lohengrin marked the beginning of his worldwide career. He appears as a regular guest at the Bavarian State Opera Munich where the roles he interpreted include Narraboth, Nureddin (Cornelius, DER BARBIER VON BAGDAD), Erik, Kaiser, Max and Hans (DIE VERKAUFTE BRAUT).
In 1992 he was appointed Bayerischer Kammersänger. His repertoire encompasses among other roles Don Ottavio, Tamino, Tito, Lenski, Faust, Hoffmann and Rienzi. His concert and opera activities brought him to all the vital musical centres of the world like Vienna, London, the Teatro alla Scala di Milano, the Salzburg festival, Japan and the USA.

In 1996 he debuted as Stolzing at the Bayreuth festival, to where he returned in 2001 and 2002 for LOHENGRIN. In Zurich, Peter Seiffert sang Tamino, Parsifal, Florestan, Erik and Max and debuted as Tannhäuser. In the season 2001/02 he inspired the audience with enthusiasm for his Siegmund in a new WALKÜRE production conducted by Zubin Mehta at the Bavarian State Opera Munich and as Turiddu in CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA in Zurich.

Future engagements: Zurich MEISTERSINGER, Venice FREISCHÜTZ, TANNHÄUSER at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris and at the Metropolitan Opera New York, LOHENGRIN at the Bayreuth festival. Concerts with Daniel Barenboim and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Ricardo Muti at the Teatro alla Scala di Milano.

He worked with almost every important conductor of our time, and his winning awards like the "Grand Prix du Disque", "Echo"-Klassik and "Singer of the Year" (1999) bear witness to the artists multi-faceted work. Numerous CD recordings and a total recording of TANNHÄUSER conducted by Daniel Barenboim have been published.
Peter Seiffert is equally successful singing concerts and Lieder.
