The pianist SooJin Anjou was born in South Korea and was raised in the USA. She graduated from the Juilliard School in New York with the highest distinction, going on to complete postgraduate studies at the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin, Germany. Much in demand as a soloist, she already performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at the early age of 16. As a chamber musician, she regularly gives concerts with soloists from the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg and the Cleveland Orchestra. She has won prizes at prestigious competitions such as the International Robert Schumann Competition and the Concours International de Piano d'Orléans. She is especially interested in contemporary music; her world-première recording of the complete piano works of Morton Subotnick, a pioneer of American electronic music, will be released in 2017 by the label Mode. In addition to performing, she is a devoted teacher, including at the Jazz Institute Berlin.
